The book Coragem, Trabalho e Fé narrates the history of the Jewish community in the ABC Paulista region, which began to form in the early 20th century. Cities like Santo André, São Bernardo, and São Caetano do Sul were home to around 300 Jewish families, many of whom worked as clientelchiks – Yiddish for door-to-door salesmen, pioneers of credit sales in Brazil.
The book, launched in 2020, includes fascinating accounts like the recovery of a Torah scroll from Ukraine, brought safely to Brazil. Co-authored by journalist Eduardo Shor and others.
